These bearings are suitable for 8mm axels (most common size) they are 'hybrid' which means they have steel casings (races) with ceramic ball bearings. These particular bearings are shielded only on one side. Make sure you put the open side towards the inside of the wheel to reduce dust and debris from entering the bearing.
Although not essential, I do like to skate on hybrid bearings as I find them slightly faster, I like them especially for distance skating outside for that extra speed and roll.
